By default, our Smart Charger power supplies automatically adjust their output voltage according to the battery’s needs. However, you can configure them to operate with a fixed voltage through a simple procedure:
With the power supply plugged into the outlet but turned off (this can be done by pressing the SMART KEY button until the unit powers off), hold the SMART KEY button until the TARAMPS logo starts flashing, this will take approximately 15 seconds.
Once this is done, you can change the output voltage by giving a short press (about 1 second) on the SMART KEY button, following this sequence with each press:
SMART → 12.6V → 13.8V → 14.4V → SMART...
The logo LED will indicate which function is selected, as follows:
SMART: When this option is selected, the logo LED will flash intermittently, indicating the SMART function (the default mode for automatically charging the batteries).
12.6V: When this option is selected, the logo LED will flash twice, indicating a fixed voltage of 12.6V.
13.8V: When this option is selected, the logo LED will flash three times, indicating a fixed voltage of 13.8V.
14.4V: When this option is selected, the logo LED will flash four times, indicating a fixed voltage of 14.4V.
Once the desired function/voltage is selected, hold the SMART KEY button until the power supply turns off — this will take approximately 2 seconds.
When turning the power supply back on, if a fixed voltage was selected, the unit’s voltmeter will display the configured voltage. If the SMART mode was selected, the voltmeter reading will automatically fluctuate according to the operating condition.
